Digital Signage will be key in tomorrow's buildings where everyone will take responsibility for reducing energy waste. This will require that occupants have the right information easily accessible and that the information will be pushed to where it is needed. In tomorrow's building low energy wireless touch panels will be everywhere providing easy to interpret information and easy to use enviromental and building services control.

The Workplace Footprint Tracker content management platform is providing the functionality of tomorrow's buildings as it is able to feed visual dashboard content via internet protocols to digital signage screens. Signage may range from large plasma screens for lobby areas to smaller high performance, low energy and low cost consumer digital frames which are suitable for meeting rooms and work zones to touchscreen tablet computers offering interactivity features.

Real-time, interactive and engaging

The signage screens are updated in almost real-time and the viewer can interact with the data using touch screen interface.

Useful display information includes the comparison of actual energy consumption and carbon emissions against targets. This increases the impact of visual feedback for building occupants and informs the public. The signage can be used for displaying league tables which will induce a competitive spirit within an organisation inciting the occupants to take an active part in carbon reduction efforts.

The signage can also be linked to other building support systems e.g. room booking software or environment controls such as lighting and air conditioning offering the user the possibility to manage room bookings or his/her environment.
